Choose Your POCUS Module
Each course is a focused, one-day intensive — 8 hours of hands-on POCUS training in one clinical domain. Complete all four to build a comprehensive skill set across cardiac, pulmonary, abdominal, and vascular applications.
Course 01
Focused Cardiac Ultrasound
Master bedside cardiac assessment: LV/RV function, pericardial effusion, tamponade physiology, and volume responsiveness. Built for acute care providers who need answers now, not tomorrow's echo report.
Course 02
Lung & Pleural Ultrasound
Identify pneumothorax, pleural effusion, consolidation, and interstitial syndromes at the bedside. Learn when to trust the probe over the chest X-ray — and when the two should agree.
Course 03
FAST & Abdominal POCUS
Rapid trauma assessment plus abdominal applications: aortic aneurysm screening, bladder, biliary, and procedural guidance for thoracentesis and paracentesis. High-yield ICU and emergency applications.
Course 04
Vascular Access & Guidance
Ultrasound-guided central and peripheral venous access, arterial lines, and procedural guidance. Reduce complications, increase first-pass success, and make every line placement safer for your patients.

Mercer University PA Program
ICU Physician Assistant

Robert Baeten is not a conference speaker who occasionally performs POCUS — he is a practicing critical care PA who uses it at the bedside daily in a busy ICU. With over 20 years of ICU experience and 15 years dedicated specifically to POCUS, he brings a depth of clinical context that no simulation-only educator can replicate.
At Mercer University, he serves as Clinical Assistant Professor and Course Director for POCUS education within the PA program curriculum — building one of the most comprehensive ultrasound programs in any PA school in the country. He has been involved with the Society of Point of Care Ultrasound since its founding and served on its leadership board as Director at Large.
